Smoky Mountain Bakers in Roan Mountain

Honestly the best pizza I have ever eaten. Hand rolled dough is thin and crisp, ingredients are flavorful and fresh, and toppings extend out to the edge of the pizza and applied generously. Baked goods are also superb and change daily. This is a place you MUST visit!

This was a great find. The restaurant is not on the main road and would be missed if you are driving through. The pizzas were excellent. All are 12". You can order a pizza by name (predetermined toppings) or build your own. The best restaurants are where the locals eat and this was no exception!

Loved this hidden gem. Excellent pizza made in a real wood burning oven. Makes the crust perfectly flaky! Also a great mountain view from their patio if you eat there. We took home a bag of 5/$4 cookies that were delicious too!

Good wood fired oven pizza. Nice thin crust. Reasonably priced. Rustic atmosphere in little town of Roan Mountain. Had meat lovers and everything pizza. Always leave with enough for another meal...on purpose!

DO not miss a taste bud adventure. Best pizza ever! It is off the beaten path for sure, but so worth your time. You will need to put it in your GPS unless you are tracking dog. Once you arrive yummy... don't let the outside fool you, go in to enjoy the best pizza and amazing sweets. The evening we visited pumpkin spice cupcakes were a big deal. They have other delicious items depending what day you visit. A little drive for us, but we will visit again!

This place is a little gem in the small town of Roan Mountain. Breakfast was excellent. I was really impressed by the toast which I'm sure was baked in-house. We came back later in the day for pizza which was delicious as well.

We received a recommendation for SMB from a local. Don't let the outside appearance discourage you, this place is a jewel.!!!!....My son and I shared the pizza. My wife had a hot sandwich. Everything was great. We took home some fresh baked cookies that were a delight...

There were no Covid policies enforced..no mask, did not feel safe..food was good enough..but now safety is important

Talk about the proverbial hole in the wall. Off the main path. Sign barely seen. If I hadn't been looking for it due to local info we would have missed it altogether. But some of the best brick oven pizza anywhere. Fresh ingredients. Worth finding.

FireOven Pizza near perfection! Nice ambiance in an old world type of fashion Great value. ☆☆☆☆Meal came out quickly. Didn't much care for the ice in a portable cooler bucket... but hey. I guess itz just ice. Took a little while for the hostess/order taker to FINALLY address us for our order after the order before was completed - she 🤔 just left and walked away. Maybe she had to gather herself 🤨 before returning. ☆☆ Though once placed two pies got on the table in less 20minutes. ☆☆☆☆☆But yeah. The pie was delightful. Homey feel. I would est the pizza again even faster if my skin's appearance could be more obvious☆. 😏

Who would think that this off the beaten path would have such awesome pizza. We visited this location a few years back. It has been on my bucket list to return when I was back up in the Roan Mountain area and finally got the opportunity on New Year’s Eve. They have expanded since my last visit. Don’t expect a fancy environment, but you can expect awesome pizza. The crust was absolutely perfect! They DO NOT skimp on the toppings, they take them all the way out to the edge. The pepperoni was not at all greasy (don’t know how they do that) with the perfect amount of cheese. They also have baked goods such as cookies, scones and breads. Breads sell out quickly so you have to arrive early. We also got 4 cookies and all were tasty traditional style cookies. Staff was super friendly. Do yourself a favor and seek this place out on your next visit in rural Tennessee.

Delicious local breakfast! I had a bagel with applewood smoked bacon, eggs, cheese, veggies, and chipotle mayonnaise. Phenomenal! And the bagel was freshly made right here. Great setting, friendly staff and some sweet dogs to greet you outside.

It looks a little sketchy but the food is AMAZING!! 18/10

Truly cannot believe how excellent the food is. From the breakfasts to the pizzas, this place would get rave reviews in Manhattan, Chicago and LA. What a gem! Everything is fresh, the Breads and pastries for sale are warm because they just came out of the wood fired oven. Fully respects traditional baking, but injects all sorts of modern flavors and preparations.

I had only been here once on my first trip to Tennessee, and we got recommended by some family that this place was good, and it was amazing food here! I would gladly come here again on my next trip!

What an amazing surprise! A "hole-in-the-wall" diamond. Their pepperoni pizzas (we ate them several times) are phenomenal! The hand made breads were equally as tasty.We HIGHLY recommend this hidden jewel and will return again and again (when we can get there from Florida).Seating is limited but they make up for the seating with superb products!!!

Wow, what find! It's off the path, it's rustic, it's cool and worth the trip! The breakfast and pizza are excellent. First time for breakfast I had pancakes with bacon and hash browns and it was too much to eat. The next time I kept to a triple stack of pancakes. The pizza is unexpectedly great. Coming from an area where chain pizza places don't last long because of all the good local recipes, I'll say this is great stuff! The choices of toppings are abundant so you can get anything from a more traditional to something off the wall. The six cheese off their menu was really good and one of my own combos with Asiago cheese, sweet onion and mushroom was delicious. And the price was right to boot!Don't forget to try the other treats and baked goods. Key Lime tarts....yum! The hand made bagels were great. I wished I had been around to try their breads.

Smokey Mountain Bakers is an amazing pizza place. Especially goofs if you are staying in Newland or Lincoln and plan to go to Roan Mountain. Nice lunch spot to pick up pizza and watch on town mountain. Amazing pizza and customer service.

Best place to eat in the area. I've been coming here since they first opened and only wish it could still be our little secret. It can get crowded with tourists and hikers. Amazing omletes, pancakes, bread, cookies, pizza... You name it, it's yummy! Quality ingredients and a great family run business.

Nice little stop if you hiked Roan Mountain and want a bite to eat after. Their wood fired oven cooks pizza FAST and the seating area outside always smells like a campfire. Every time I go here, I try and choose a different pizza. I have not been let down yet!! I highly recommend the Hiker's Surprise! Definitely a must stop if you like pastries and breads. Good luck getting bagels though, they sell out VERY quick. Note: This is thin crust pizza and is always perfectly crispy!

Absolutely fantastic experience at Smoky Mountain Bakers! They are phenomenally talented, and the restaurant is well managed. Very quick service and amazing food. I had both their breakfast foods (twice!) and a selection of their pizzas - each one is amazing. Highly recommended - will return ASAP!

There this week with out of town family for lunch. Food was excellent, as always, but the man behind the counter acted like we were an aggrevation. Asked to have an empty table cleaned off from previous customers, and he simply brushed me off. We had to wipe it off ourselves. Never had this experience before.

Have never had better pizza, would drive the 600 miles again just for the pizza and the views. Definitely don't miss out on trying the cookies, absolutely perfectly prepared and flavored. Red velvet, their lemon cookie, and snickerdoodle are the best in my opinion.

Best. Pizza. EVER!! While camping at Roan Mountain SP, this jewel of a restaurant was highly recommended. It is a must for breakfast, pizza, artisan bread and all sorts of seasonal cookies, cupcakes and various baked goodies. We are almost 'locals' since we have visited so often on this trip!

Great homemade meals, cookies and brownies and friendly service make this a place to stop if you're in or near Roan Mountain, Tennessee. Stopped here twice during our camping trip to Roan Mountain State Park, top notch food and service both times. Thanks!
